Wow, now don’t I feel like a fancy blogger now? Sitting by a river near the spanish moss covered trees, lazily sitting under a tree. Except did I mention I have shorts on and I’m freezing!!! The sun was out earlier but it seems to have to bed for the day, sleeping beyond the clouds. I went swimming earlier today, which was a bit chilly, but the point of getting in at all was do to some exercise so I ran/swam around and generally caused many waves in the pool, which helped my core temperature to come up.
up. In one way its easier than running, and at the same time a lot harder. Maybe I’m just water challenged
It seems that holding onto a body board and kicking ferociously around the pool a few times kicked all the stuffing out of me.
Just as I speak the sun comes out, which is very nice, but I’m still under the tree. Oh, did I mention that my laptop is broken? The adapter doesn’t always want to carry current, so the laptop doesn’t always charge. My brother has managed to finagle it into working again, which is nice, but I need to get it to a Best Buy and soon!
In just a week and a few days I’ll be back to the frozen north. I don’t think we can plant peas in the ground if it’s frozen, no matter how bad I want to put them in. It’ll be time to start a few dozen seedlings in the house with a light (and maybe a heater!) and get other things done.
At thrift stores is a great place to buy books. I’ve bought multiple Spanish textbooks there along with a good number of classics, and other various books that I generally enjoy. Some stores charge as little as a quarter for a book, and that represents a lot of information. Think about the thousands and thousands of words that can be contained in a book! You should never be bored if you have plenty of good books around you. A few years ago I wrote down every book I read, along with the author and the number of pages. It was fun to tally up the pages at the end of each month. After finding I read 5,000 one month, I decided to make a goal of 50,000 pages in a year. Of course that rate of reading is possible in the winter months where you can’t go outside as much, but as soon as spring came around I stopped reading so much and when June came around and I was sorely behind, I quit and forgot about the goal. It’s nice to have a record of the books you read, however, because a lot of times you forget what you read, or who the author was. Then someday down the road you can go through the list and head with excitement to the library to find a book that you enjoyed and want to read again.
I’m not sure why I’m writing so much (or does it just seem like more than usual to me?) but I just thought as a last thought I’d mention we saw a manatee in the river earlier today. It was neat! We just saw it’s head come up twice, and then it was too far away to see. I wish we’d see an alligator. I’m glad we didn’t see one while we were swimming in the river, however
