So what happens when an addicted individual is deprived of his or her source of the substance addicted to?
This case resulted in a disappointed surprise followed by a bit of anxiety, a lot of talking on the phone with a certain support system. They calmed the patient with kind words and a promise that all would soon be well. Just how soon, they couldn’t tell. In the following days, there ensued running out in the sprinkling rain with the tool needed to get a fix, and running a pipeline of supply from the neighbors house. This solution is not entirely satisfactory to the addict as it has a very limited supply and all addicted members in the house must share.

When we came home from a concert on Sunday we found that the second item in about 2 weeks that had been damaged by lightning. Our modem is completely dead. Last week it was out main computer
The reason we don’t have surge protection is because there’s no ground on this circuit in our house.
The rain has really been tremendous. It’s lightning (or is it lightning-ing?) and thundering right now as I type and the rain is coming down pretty heavily. It rained really hard about 30 minutes ago and the “river” in the road was past my ankles in the deep part. The “crik” down back is really swollen, it’s bigger than I’ve ever seen it. I think our neighbor’s driveway washed out almost as much as it could get washed out, and all in a matter of minutes. We’re on the side of a big hill and all the water from the street above us washed down this particular neighbor’s property for some reason - maybe because of the roadwork on that street.
I really like thunderstorms, but I don’t like losing electronics and definitely not the internet! I just don’t have enough friend’s phone numbers
Instead of spending my time talking to friends online I got to talk to the lady at Verizon and sing along with the “on hold” music. I didn’t realize she was still on the line, because while I was singing she said “Are you dancing?” (!) I ended up talking with her a little while I was waiting for the other department and it turns out she’s from the Philipines and it was 12 hours difference than here.
This morning it was raining and I was dreaming that I was seeing lightning strike the telephone poles, then at 5:23am there was a huge bolt that sounded like a gunshot out of the window that woke me up. That happened last week or so and it turned out to be a tree not too far from here - splintered in half from top to bottom. I haven’t heard what it was this time, but there were many, many close strikes last night.
