Hello!
We only have 6 day left. The 11 days so far have flown by. I miss my family, though, and I miss some of the books and tools I have at home. The lady we’re with let me use some clay and I had great fun last night making some little things. I’m hoping to make a likeness of Wallace, of Wallace and Gromit today.(Made Gromit last night).
My German has improved loads, but it’s still not very good at all. Just better than when I came. I wish now that I had brought my textbook (I couldn’t find it right before we left) and had a little more time set aside to study. But I will go home and study and drill and that sort of thing. I was thrilled to hear the mom here say that my Rs sound good! That was very nice to be told. My Ü’s and Ö’s have much to be desired, unfortunately. And I haven’t seemed to have gotten the ‘ch’ in ‘Ich’. I have heard non-native speakers of American English sound JUST like native speakers, and it would be so nice to learn languages like that.
When we went to a castle\palace yesterday and there was a couple with a Spanish information booklet (the guide spoke in German) and when I glanced over their shoulder I was so pleasantly surprised - it was very comfortable and most of the words I knew. It was like seeing an old friend with whom you’ve been through some trying times in the past but worked it out, while you’re in the midst of very trying times with another friend (German)
Here is me with my sister at a cathedral in Köln (Cologne).

Petersburg Hotel (on a big hill)

At the airport. It was fun, even though we ended up awake for 30 hours.
More pictures later (I’m not sure how much later) and many wishes of happy thanksgiving all year to you all

Haha! I heard once that the German language has 25,000 words, and that only 4,000 words are in use every day. So you should be fine!
I love the angle that you chose with the Cathedral picture…can you imagine building it? Whew!
Be careful, and be sure and post more pics when you are able. It looks like ya’ll are making a LOT of fun and interesting memories. Thanks for the update!

You guys bring back memories of my own European adventures in the 80s. I’ve been catching up on you, Carol’s, and the M.F.S.’s blogs…
Get back safe and savor the memories as you always do!

Dianna, heh. It’s hard to believe we use so much of our own language, even.
Andy, that is cool! Der Deutches Autos sind, um, muy cool! I guess that ought to be sehr shon, actually
They have such interesting ones! The streets are so small though. Our street here looks so wide now. Where did you go to in Europe? And did you study German in school?
Glad you like that song, one of the families we visited had an 11 year old daughter who kept playing that song over and over again too, lol.
