And that is the news of the morning. I sneezed three times in a row, twice. Which means I should be dead, but I’m alive!
The other day I got a call back from someone who I might babysit for, and he said he’d talk with his wife and set up an interview for Friday. In the meantime, I got a call from another application I submitted and they said they had an opening for an interview at 2pm on Friday.
So, the first guy calls back and says “Hey, how about 10am?” Fine, fine! Only a 28 minute bus ride away, right in a little town of about 4,000.
So, Thursday evening I’m looking at my scheduling and checking the bus routes. The bus only runs at 6, 7, and 10! And, it’s midnight. So the only thing I could do was get up at 6 to get ready for the 7 o’clock bus, arrive in town at 7:30, and hang out till 10.
But wait- the next bus that goes home doesn’t run till 4pm, and my appointment is at 2! There was no option but to bike the 12-13 miles home. So I did just that. Got to sleep as soon as possible, dragged myself out of bed, arrived in town and found a little restaurant to have breakfast in and waited for the morning appointment.
The restaurant was halfway filled with older people, mostly discussing farms and vehicles, and occasionally money. It was very quaint and attractive. It wasn’t at all like big-city old people. Not like old-folks trailer places in Florida. No sir. These guys reminded me of my grandfather. The waitresses were all in their 40s and knew all the people in there, and my waitress brought me the newspaper so I had something to read while I was waiting (I had mentioned it to her I had an appointment in town at 10.) Who I assumed was the owner of the restaurant came out and ate breakfast while chitchatting with some of the guys there.
I think it might be worth it to ride the bus all that way just to eat there again and watch the people.

Hey Bonnie!! I played in the Walpole, NH concert tonight with the Montague Band and was talking to Dave, he mentioned you got married and moved to Seattle, which I see he meant Oregon! Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say hi and congratulations!!!
Good luck on your job search, take care,

Heh. Well, although I must say you definitely stand out amongst most of the people at those kinds of places, it’s not really about what type of person you are, because the atmosphere in a small town is just so different than a transient trailer park where everyone comes and goes all the time.
Thanks for the comment
Glad to hear from you!

Hi Amy! Thank you for stopping by. Somehow I didn’t see your comment by the time I replied with my comment above.
Yes, we’re a little ways from Seattle, in Eugene, OR. Thank you!
