I’m running out of creative juice to make a fun title with.
A few days ago, Porter asked if I had put a listing on craigslist.com about my housekeeping. They have a thing where you can list the kind of services you provide. I hadn’t, but I typed up a few paragraphs and push “post.” And then it deleted itself somehow. So I typed it up again, as well as I could remember, and posted it.
On Wednesday night (about 12am), I had made a schedule for Thursday that included all kinds of things, including applying for jobs and working on my resume. So I got up at 7:30am after going to bed at about one, and dragged myself out of bed and did the morning tasks. But I got a call at noon about house keeping, and it turned out that very afternoon was going to work best for both of us. So after a quick reference check by my soon-to-be client, I got a call back confirming that he wanted me to work for him that afternoon. So off I went, returned home exhausted after cleaning the house, scrubbing a meat smoker and grill, and shoveling doggy messes out of the backyard. Then the next day I worked all day at J’s, which I will talk about in another paragraph.
Now, this morning I got a call about housekeeping. I have an appointment for Monday to interview and see the house. This afternoon I got a call about housekeeping! I went to an appointment at Starbucks this afternoon and talked with a very nice person about housekeeping - I am to start there in a few weeks, as they are moving into a new home.
Crazy. I’m so glad Porter asked again if I had put my ad up there. He’s mentioned it in the past but I didn’t really think much of it. There are so many other ads up there for housekeepers. But somehow, people have called me and I’m very grateful. I really am hoping, though, that not all of them have super-greasy smokers to clean.
Ok, J’s house. This is the most amazing housekeeping job I have ever had, I think. It’s a long bike ride uphill to get there, yes. It’s going to be a miserable ride once the rain comes, yes. But once I’m there, I start getting happy and forget about the bike ride to get there.
After I arrive, J, offers me coffee, I usually drink some. Then during my working hours, I sometimes have the house to myself, and during that time I can use the sound system to play any of 27,000 songs that in the system, and pipe it to the area of the house I’m working in. I can sing along, talk to myself, etc. I clean the house, do laundry, eat lunch, clean the house, and go home. It’s really quite fun in the end, even though I often dread going. I attribute that to the hill at the beginning. Once I get past that, I’m practically jumping up and down at work thinking “I can’t believe I have this job!” Besides all of the nice things about the working conditions themselves, this client is also a great person to work for. I like the children, too.
Oh! I almost forgot other things that happened today. I went to a yardsale across the street and bought a turntable/cassette/tuner and two decent speakers for $6. Also, for clothes I bought a jacket, three dresses, two skirts, and a shirt! Very cool that all of them fit pretty well, and some of them perfectly. I ought to post pictures of them, is what I should do! The camera eats batteries though, and I think they are already dead from last time I changed them.
I also posted a new youtube video, by the way.

Wow…God is blessing you, that’s for sure! Glad to hear you have found work, and from the looks of it, maybe more than you can handle alone! Awesome! I like reading the posts where you are smiling.
